TOUR DESCRIPTION:
14 days jeep tour. Drive across vast steppes, forested mountains,
clear lakes and explore ancient Buddhist monasteries. Visit the Orkhon river
valley, the cradle of nomadic civilization and the capital of the legendary
Genghis Khan from where he launched his victorious cavalry. Horseback riding,
hiking, swimming are the main activities. Overnights in traditional yurts,
comfortable, rich cultural experience.

TOUR INTRUDUCTION:
This itinerary offers an exploration of what Mongolians call “Khangai”,
the land of richly forested mountains, rushing streams, clear lakes and hospitable
nomadic people whose life revolves around domesticated yaks, horses, camels,
goats and sheep. These extremely tough but hospitable people are always happy
to share their culture and traditions with you. En route you will visit the
ancient capital of Genghis Khan, from where he launched his victorious cavalry.

DAY BY DAY ITINERARY:
Day 1: Arrive in Ulaanbaatar
City tour: a colorful display of traditional
costumes and introduction to Genghis Khan’s history topped by a show
of unique throat singing and contortion. (hotel/L,D).
Day 2: Travel by jeep to Amarbaysgalant monastery
Nestled in the wooded valley
of the holy Burenkhaan mountain. (ger/B,L,D).
Day 3: In the morning explore the monastery
Miraculously survived the
communist destructions of 1930's and has become a spiritual refuge of true
believers. Continue traveling to Bulgan town. (ger/B,L,D).
Day 4: Drive to Khanui river
Through green valleys dotted with yurts of nomads
and hundreds of animals grazing around. (ger/B,L,D).
Day 5: The Great White lake is our next stop
Created by a volcanic eruption
millions of years ago this stunning lake is surrounded by extinct volcanoes
and lush forests of larch and pine. This is a perfect place to go swimming,
boating and fishing. (ger/B,L,D).
Day 6: A well deserved leisure day
We go swimming, boating or fishing. (ger/B,L,D).
Day 7: Continue to Tsenkher hot spring resort
Explore on horseback the surrounding
area of Siberian larch forest and rolling hills. (ger/B,L,D).
Day 8: Drive to Orkhon waterfall
Amidst a landscape of volcanic terrain and
wooded mountains. Hike to explore the surrounding area. The valley of Orkhon
river is a historic homeland of nomadic civilization. (ger/B,L,D).
Day 9: Local nomads will introduce you to their
art of horseback riding in the Orkhon river valley
(ger/B,L,D).
Day 10: Travel by jeep to Karakorum
Once grand capital of Genghis Khan’s
Empire. Enjoy the tranquil Erdene Zuu monastery, largest Buddhist center in
Mongolia. Our route lies by the Tuvkhun monastery, nestled up high in a wooded
mountain. The monastery served as spiritual refuge of the first Buddhist King
of Mongolia. (ger/B,L,D).
Day 11: Our destination is Khogno Khan mountain
A chain of granite
perfect for hiking. Our road lies across wide stretch of sand dunes originating
in Gobi desert. It dramatically contrasts with green steppes around. (ger/B,L,D).
Day 12: The Khustai National park became the
last refuge of the wild horse of Przewalsky
A successful re-introduction program has brought this ancient
animals to their historic homerange. (ger/B,L,D).
Day 13: Drive to Ulaanbaatar
