PARAGLIDING TOUR |
With some rusty personal experience of paragliding
and parachuting, for long time we at Mongolia Expeditions could not
persuade ourselves to offer paragliding tours in Mongolia. In September
2006 a daring crossing over the Khangai Mt. range was attempted by
two UK pilots with logistical support from us. As a result Mongolia
proved to hold huge potential for paragliding and other wind sports.
Now we are confident to offer you logistics services for those
dreaming of writing their names in the blue skies of Mongolia.

FLY FISHING TOUR |
The reason to fish in Mongolia is the
chance to hook and land a freshwater fish weighing 25kg. This giant
of a fish, the taimen (scientific name Hucho
hucho taimen), is a
carnivorous monster that eats other fish, as well as rodents unlucky
enough to get caught in the stream. It is by far the largest member
of the salmonids - the family that includes trout, salmon, and grayling.
According to Siberian tales, Russian fishermen have netted 90
kilogram taimen. The days of landing a taimen in Russia, however,
are long gone as they have been pouched to near extinction. Only
in Mongolia do these ferocious beasts survive in relatively large
numbers.
Mongolia Expeditions pursues pure catch-and-release fishing to
ensure survival of the taimen and other game fish of Mongolia including
lenok (Brachymstax lenok), and Arctic Grayling (Thymallus
arcticus).

CAVING TOUR |
In August 2006, together with The Cave Research Center
of Sicily, Italy we conducted a cave research tour in the Gobi desert
and Central Mongolia regions. As a result 19 big caves were studied
few of them for the first time. Although the prime goal of the expedition
was geological morphology of caves, Mongolia Expeditions has now
in its disposal sufficient data and experience to offer caving tours
to both amateur and professional caving enthusiasts. Please contact
us with your request. |

CANOEING TOUR
|
Canoeing is arguably the best way to get to know Mongolia,
one of the last great wildernesses on earth. In the short hot summers
life in the steppes concentrates on the riverbanks. Huge flocks of
horses stampede out of the water as you draw near, the bald eagle
is circling above looking for pray and all sorts of water fowl enliven
the clear fast flowing stream.
From time to time a horseman will appear on a high bank or a bluff
overlooking the river and wherever there is abundant pasture you
will glimpse the outline of a white yurt through the green bushes
lining the river.
We offer four different canoeing tours each of which is in its
own way uniquely attractive.
You might go down the Tool river for one, two or three days right
near the capital Ulaanbaatar or you might choose any one of three
different tours (or combine them) on the Orkhon river, a days drive
from Ulan Bator. Please contact us with
your request. |
