Mountain biking in Mongolia

This was a trip that went above and beyond any expectations I had! ME is obviously a well run organization and took care of every need…not to mention the gorgeous scenery and friendly people. From staying in a ger hosted by a traditional family to a very educational walking tour of UB with great museums to the main event- 8 days of mountain biking in Selenge province- it was all perfect.
Our English speaking guide, Anu, was knowledgeable, capable and fit in with our group seamlessly. And then our bike mechanic, cook and both drivers of the vans were also just outstanding. They all worked well together and I think we all had fun with each other.
Great food (they accommodated 2 vegetarians in our group), very good equipment ( bikes and tents), and somehow with the usual snags that can happen with weather and things, everything came together seamlessly.
Mongolia is a very special place…and Mongolia Expeditions is an organization that I highly recommend with no reservation!

Wonderful experience cycling with Mongolia Expedition team

Itamar L

We have just completed an amazing two week cycling tour with the Mongolia Expedition team. We chose to combine the Khangay trail and the KhanKhenti tours. The vast landscapes became accessible in a unique way as we cycle through this vastland meeting herds of gorses, yaks, and grazing sheep. In a way, this journey with its changing campsites gave us a sense of the nomadic life in Mongolia. Our experience was very much augmented by our fine connection with the team that accompanied us. The guide- Tyga- served as a friendly translator of the Mongolian experience. Batu, the cycling guide and the mechanic proved to be an inspirational character with his his attention to details and his willingness to lead a strenuous journey. The cook Sara, was a virtuouso, providing meals of various cuisines, and responsive to our preferences. Note that her default preference are three meat meals a day. There were two drivers who were also involved in all the tasks concerning setting the camp etc. A hard working team with a great ecological sensitivity. The cycling itself was exciting. We were a group of 4 cyclists in our 60's. The Khangai trail was more challenging, with 450 km includin some passes that were too steep to cycle through. Al in all, very rewarding. The Khan Khenti, with its Syberian quality, offered about 200 km of more gentle climbs and beautiful sightseeing. The cycling is over various surfaces and includes many crossings per day of water stream. It was an extraordinary trip.

Just returned from a truly epic adventure bicycle tour with Mongolia Expeditions, led by the incredibly talented Aldra and his A+ team of professionals. ME designed this particular tour along the Selenge River for our group and it was spectacular, with different scenery and riding each day, choice camping spots, a very special visit to Amarbayasgalant Monastery and two nights in a Ger camp. The team cook was very flexible and made special vegetarian meals for my husband and I. The team mechanic was fantastic and the bikes, tents and other equipment were in prime condition. Can't say enough great things about Mongolia Expeditions, highly recommend them if you want a memorable once-in-a-lifetime experience.
